Calgary Volunteer Program

The Volunteer Program serves both the Association’s clientelle and interested people from the community in providing a variety of meaningful volunteer experiences, while assisting the Association in its day to day operations.

The volunteer program provides volunteers with the opportunity to:
receive orientation, specific training, ongoing support and supervision
learn new skills
interact and socialize with others
choose from a variety of available volunteer positions
work in a position that matches their skill level and interest

People wishing to volunteer meet with the Co-ordinator of Volunteers to determine specific needs, suitability and job placement.


Volunteer Positions include

Telephone Reception

Answering the telephone, taking messages, etc.

Recreation Volunteers

Facilitating games and activities in the Resource/Activity Centre.

The Recycling Project

Cleaning, repairing, sorting, pricing and arranging donated items for our garage sales (on the 3rd floor).

The Tuck Shop

Operating the till and providing customer service for the agency’s snack bar.

Other

Light cleaning, clerical assistance, clothing bank, meal preparation, special events, Board of Directors and committee work.

When Do People Volunteer?

The program operates seven days per week.  People wishing to volunteer are asked to make a commitment of 2 - 6 hours per week; days and times vary, depending on the position.
