Congratulations Linda is the Instructor and Facilitator of the Association's Life Skills and Initiatives programs and the Mental Health Support Groups. In April, Linda was awarded the Group Therapist Appreciation Award by the Canadain Group Psychotherapy Association in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments, leadership and group work in the mental health field. |

Art Program - June 2008 and Writer's Club - July 2008
The Art Program and Writer's Club Program provides instruction in a safe and nurturing environment for individuals who wish to discover and explore their creativity through the visual or literary arts. The programs are based on an academic framework and the curriculums are designed to focus on the individual and their personal development. These programs are offered in a semester format with multi-level classes that provide opportunities for students with little or no experience in creative expression as well as continued learning opportunities to challenge the more experienced individuals.
The Art and Writer's Programs run Monday to Friday, individual class times vary according to classes selected.
Initiatives - September 2008
The Initiatives Program provides a supportive learning environment where participants have the opportunity to enhance their interpersonal skills and apply them to their day to day living. Interactive lessons focus on primary skill areas to promote interpersonal growth and increase self confidence to deal with feelings, problems and stresses more assertively.
Inititatives is an eight week program with class times Monday - Thursday 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Activities of Daily Living - September 2008
Activities of Daily Living teaches healthy living options that are fundamental to a healthier lifestyle, an increased quality of life and successful community living. The course offers skill development in: nutrition, meal preparation, budgeting and money management, and household management. Using various experiential media, the teaching is tailored to the realities of living on a limited income and the special needs related to maintaining mental health. Teaching methods include: hands on experience, written exercises, video, field trips, discussion and problem solving. The budgeting component of the program is optional and offered in an individualized consultation format where the instructor offers specific interventions designed for that client's needs.
Activities of Daily Living is a twelve week program with class time of approximately 3 hours per week.
